Charlotte Mae Liska, 87, of Des Moines, IA and formerly of Mason City, IA died on Monday, October 6, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City. Pastor Dan Gerrietts from Trinity Lutheran Church will be officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Charlotte was born on October 22, 1926 in Mason City to Nelvin Robert and Hulda (Aamodt) Johnson. She attended school in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School in 1944. She started employment her senior year with Younkers upon their opening and remained there for eight years. Thereafter she was employed at Northwestern Bell as a telephone operator and transferred to their Des Moines location in 1979. She later retired from US West Communications (Qwest) in 1986. Charlotte was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church by Reverend Wigdahl. She was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Communication Workers of America. Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Curt Liska of Des Moines and Robin (Fred) Fox of Rockford; grandchildren, Matthew Fox of Lacrosse, WI and Brian (Hannah) Fox of North Liberty, IA; niece, Lea Anne (Bud) Rew of Hampton; nephew, Marty (Marsha) Hanley of Indianapolis, IN; and several cousins.
