Ruby M. Kopps

Ruby M. Kopps, 94 of Mason City, died Friday, May 24, 2024 at the IOOF home. Memorial services will be held Tuesday June 11, 2024 at 10:30 am at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd ST. SE, Mason City. Officiating will be Rev. Lori Fish of the Church of the Nazarene. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Ruby Kopps memorial fund. Ruby was one of nine children born to Lewis and Ellen (Ryerson) Peterson. Ruby and Ruth (her twin) were born on February 19, 1930. At age 10 her mother died and she and her siblings were split up with other relatives, which was common at the time. She attended school in Buffalo Center. After school she was united in marriage to Shirley Kopps on August 20, 1948 in Northwood. In 1998 they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. To this union was born 6 children. In her early years she worked for several manufacturing plants in the area including Sperry, Winnebago and also the Sugar Beet plant. For fourteen years she and her twin were “Rocking Grandmas’” for the Charlie Brown day care center. Ruby enjoyed playing cards, dice and bingo. She loved gardening, flowers and yard work and especially spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren... She enjoyed reading her bible, and the times she and her husband went to dog and horse races and dancing in their younger years. Surviving Ruby are her three children, Kathy “Kopps” Franklin, Mason City, Mark and Paula Kopps, Mason City, and Russell and Teresa Kopps, Lakeland, MN. Five grandchildren Tanya, Scott, Jason, Kristy and Rusty, and five Great Grandchildren Rebecca, Anton, Xavier, Zander, and Lily. She was preceded by her parents, husband Shirley Kopps, in 1998, three sisters Marie Thompson, Lois Cooper and her twin Ruth Latham, and five brothers Cecil, Harland, Ronnie and Gene Peterson and Jim Skutter. Three sons an infant son Richard Eugene Kopps, Randall S. Kopps, Richard M. Kopps.
