Lois H. Palmer

Lois H. Palmer, 99, of Nora Springs, Iowa, died Friday, June 19, 2026, at Nora Springs Care Center. Arrangements are with Fullerton Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St SE, Mason City. Corps Officer Steven De Castro from the Mason City Salvation Army will be officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Riverside Cemetery in Rockford, Iowa. Lois H. Palmer was born on September 18, 1926, near Clarksville, Iowa, to Alfred and Linda (Mueller) Kleinschmidt. She was the second oldest of six children. Lois graduated from Clarksville High School in 1943 and later attended Wartburg College and Upper Iowa University. On July 11, 1953, she was united in marriage to Louis Palmer at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they shared many years of marriage and were blessed with two children, Tim and Tracy. Lois was previously married to Earl Quackenbush in 1947, and together they had two sons, Terry and Thomas. Lois dedicated much of her life to education and service. She taught in rural schools throughout Butler County and later worked in her son Terry’s catering business in Rudd. She also served as the library director in Rudd. Above all, she embraced her most important role as a loving and devoted mother. A woman of deep community commitment, Lois volunteered at the local library, Nora Springs Care Center, and Meals on Wheels. She was also actively involved in many church activities at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Nora Springs. Her interests included cross-stitching, reading, and traveling. She especially cherished time spent with family and friends. She is survived by her son, Tim Palmer (Coleen Rosendahl) of Nora Springs; daughter, Tracy (Dennis) Weaver of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Pauline Gleason; grandchildren Jason (Diana) Palmer, Joshua Palmer, Julie Miller (Ben Stegemann), Cassie Quackenbush (Jeff Kapping), Dale (Kaitlyn) Weaver, Mary Weaver, and Jeremy (Amber) Deverell; and great-grandchildren Aaron and Allie Miller, Evan and Anne Palmer, Lucas Quackenbush, Emma and Ellie Kapping, Elijah (Mallory) Deverell, Gabby Deverell, Giuli Deverell, and Tory Deverell and sister Shirley Heinselman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Palmer (1997); her parents; sons Terry and Thomas Quackenbush; sisters Darlene Thieking, Norma Iserman, and Roberta Ramker; brother Don Kleinschmidt; and four sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law.
