Jeffrey P. Sisson

Jeffrey Paul Sisson, 70, of Charles City, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026. Funeral arrangements are with Fullerton-Hage funeral home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at the Riverside Cemetery Chapel, 59 Riverside Avenue in Charles City. An outdoor Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Victory Park, near the suspension bridge. Jeffrey was born on May 7, 1956, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Paul and Beverly (Rinker) Sisson. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1974 and went on to become a devoted community leader in Charles City as a mentor, banker, and entrepreneur. He gave his time and heart to local traditions, youth, and civic projects. Jeff's greatest legacy may have been his unwavering commitment to the Charles City community. He believed deeply in its future and generously shared his time, leadership, and passion to help it thrive. Throughout his life, he championed economic growth and civic engagement, always seeking ways to make Charles City stronger for future generations. He served as Mayor of Charles City from 1994-1995. He was the President of the Riverside Cemetery Association and the North Cedar Aviation Authority. He was an active member of the Lions and the Elks Club. He was a supporterof the Floyd County Museum and Historical Society. Jeff devoted countless hours to Charles City's America's Hometown Fourth of July Celebration, Party in the Park, and multiple RAGBRAI events. He was passionate about preserving local history, which he brought to life each year for eighth-grade history classes. For many seasons, he coached eighth-grade boys' basketball at Charles City Junior High, mentoring young athletes with wisdom, integrity, and encouragement. Whether serving on a committee, supporting a community project, or offering thoughtful advice to a friend or colleague, Jeff was a trusted mentor, a respected leader, and a steadfast advocate for the community he loved. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Beverly Sisson, and his niece, Ellie Anne Poolman. He is survived by his daughter Emily, her husband Shane, and their son Oliver; his sister Jody Vrieze and her husband Jon; his brother Tom and his wife Sherri; and nephews Ben, Luke, Isaac, Elijah, and his niece Hannah "Rose." In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Floyd County Historical Society or Riverside Cemetery Association.
